Have been mainlining Sarah Connor Chronicles. I just finished 02x12. I have found that I can barely talk about this show without resorting to capslock and mad flailing on the keyboard. This will prove to be problematic when I have to write 10 pages about Terminators and AI and what it means to be human and and and... YOU GUYS. EVEN THE CHARACTERS WHO SHOW UP FOR (PROBABLY) ONE EPISODE ARE AWESOME.
I...okay. Lauren Fields? Absolutely blew me away. She's scared and is John's age and doesn't know what's going on, but she figures out that shit is bad and Sarah and Cameron are the only way her family's getting out of this alive quicker than her parents. But she's not flinching away from trying to protect her mom as best she can and she's just trying to keep it together (and she probably reminds Sarah of herself to some degree). And then, at the end, leaving behind the necklace Derrick told her was a target on her mom's corpse so she can take care of her newborn sister? Holy crap, this kid is tough as nails.
I don't know how they do it. Every character exists for a reason but also has a story and a reason for doing what they do in this show, and I don't remember a character who's just a cardboard cutout for the plot to move along. It's full of people and oh guys, I have fallen hard for this show.
Why are my monitors not spontaneously-combusting from the awesome? (Er, not that I'm complaining, because they were expensive)

Oh god, Derek. And the remembering and knowing that this kid is going to save his life, and you can see it in how he looks at her and in his slight (sad) smile that he can see her as an adult and and and! SO AWESOME.
(I think I latched onto the kid because the actress reminds me of Stephanie Leonidas who played Helena in Mirrormask, who was ALSO AWESOME.)
