ultranos: Actual MIT hack of roadsign. "MASS AVE BRIDGE CLOSED / SUNDAY 04/22/07 6AM-3PM / TO APPEASE GODZILLA" (have you appeased godzilla today?)
Someone more familiar with the Marvel comics 'verse help me before I do something crazy like make John Sheppard a Captain America analogue.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Charlie O'Neill lives in this 'verse.

But if you make John Sheppard into a Captain America analogue (OMG DO IT!) then you could make Charlie O'Neill be a Bucky analogue.

PLEASE DON'T KILL ME! *flee*

Charlie O'Neill is already sort of a young!Cyclops analogue right now. Jack's running a certain school for gifted kids, up in Minnesota, near a lake/pond, see...

Except....personality-wise, that's a pretty far reach.
Not that it isn't exceptionally awesome.

Not if we consider that Jack's good with kids, and, in this 'verse, if Charlie had an uncontrollable mutation like that, Jack would move heaven and earth to make sure he'd feel safe and protected and could learn to control it.

It's a little less of the "I have this grand vision of the future of mankind!" and a lot more of the "grab likeminded people together to do right by these poor kids and protect them". Which isn't that much of a stretch for Jack.

given what Jack did to Orban, I shudder to contemplate the end result for Earth in this 'verse. ;)

Luckily, there are like-minded people in this 'verse who are willing to help out. Er, and make the world a better place for everyone.

OH MY GOD. YES.

I've been bouncing this at Trout.

So far, we have telepath!Jack (thus making sure he's ridiculously good at reading people), young!Cyclops!Charlie, young!Shadowcat!Cassie, and pyro!Cadman. (that's a lot of C's...) Janet's the school doc, although badass normal. I think there's also superspeedster!Jonas (more adorable hyperactivity), and I haven't yet figured out Rodney or Ronon.

I know where Teyla is, but still need to figure out Ford and slot Shep definitively one place or another. Elizabeth, of course, is Director of SHILD, dammit. :)

I'd probably see Cameron Mitchell more as a Captain America analogue. He's got that whole giant boy scout thing going on way more than Sheppard. Sheppard isn't wound as tight as Cap and is probably a little more morally ambiguous. He seems more of a Sgt./Colonel Fury 9depending on the time period). Or perhaps Angel/Archangel of the X-Men with the whole playboy persona he's got at times. Or maybe Rick Jones?

Man, now you're going have me trying to match up Marvel Stargate characters for the rest of the day. I'm not going to get anything else in done.

Currently, Cam's playing James Rhodes to Sam's Tony Stark. (because I am insane), which is why he's not slotted as the Cap. It's...working surprisingly well.

I should possibly go look at more of the X-Men. I...vaguely remember Archangel, but not his backstory. Most of my knowledge of them comes from the 90s cartoon (my Saturday mornings!) or X-Men: Evolution. *is a very bad comic book geek*

Also, the character matching isn't one-to-one. Honestly, I'm playing fast-and-loose with the Marvel 'verse, and more looking at powers/skill sets/abilities that fit the Stargate characters. Keeps me from rehashing comic storylines and makes me do my own work. :)

I had a whole tale of the emo that is Warren Worthington III's life. LJ ate it. ARGH.

Wait, does that mean it's too emo for LJ? WHOA. :P

Well, it's the X-Men. Given the number of times Jean Grey has died, anything relating to them is too emo for LJ. ;)

POINT.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but . . . Daniel? (Um, other than, presumably doing a hell of a job teaching history and ethics to super-powered children/teens and dying to save the world rather a lot.)

Daniel's actually busy being the sane one at this 'verse's version of Stark Industries and, hilariously, trying to keep Sam from managing to kill herself in a spectacularly reckless fashion.

He also gets to snark. A lot.
