In a hilarious coincidence, a significant section of my social circle in meatspace apparently suddenly decided to also start watching Avatar: the Last Airbender. So I'm apparently not entirely late to the party, but somehow still playing catch-up.
It's kinda fun being able to bounce reactions off each other. And have other people going "my god, this is remarkably Asian".
Thoughts while watching up through s01e17 [partial list]:
-Jet has...bishie-sparkle? WHAT. Seriously?! *laughs hysterically* (Trust me, I can identify bishie-sparkle at 100m. I have the uniform to prove it. BISHOUNEN SUPPORT CORPS, REPRESENT!)
-I think I've finally stopped expecting subtitles and Japanese language VA!
-Aang is no longer irritating me! Yay!
-Aang is still not post-angst, pre-timeskip Simon from TTGL. I...I think I can live with that, but *sigh* he has potential. I think it's just because Simon was the last young shounen hero I watched, and I keep reading A:tLA to be a shounen series.
-Relatedly, someone needs to do an Avatar vid to "Libera Me From Hell". Or "Sorairo Days". JUST SAYIN'. (I need to prove mathematically/scientifically one day that pretty much anything can be improved with TTGL references)
-I wish my Mandarin was not so rusty and beyond one semester. I'm wondering how much of the writing is actually real.
-Sokka. My god, he's at least a Tier 2 Engineer.
-Of course air beats tanks! Fire Nation, you don't have AA! (I possibly play too much Supreme Commander)
-OH GOD, we are totally playing the air sup game now.
