ultranos: kino standing, staring ahead (tv is eating my brain)
I'd almost forgotten what it was like to have a weekend where I could actually afford to relax a bit and even take a 1-hour nap. Finished a major milestone in 2.009 on Thursday, and while I have a lab due for 6.131 on Friday that I haven't really started, I'm in this "I don't care" mentality right now (probably my brain trying to protect itself). I can feel the muscles in my shoulders starting to loosen just a little, which is great, because a few more days like this past week and they'd be downright painful. (I store tension and stress in my neck/shoulders. I have a terrible habit of cracking my neck at least twice a day, just to make sure it doesn't freeze up in some painful configuration due to tension.)

I've been drooling over the trailers for P3P and FFXIII this week as mindless ways to release tension. Looking at my list of games I'm excited about/wanting to really play, I think it's safe to say, with a few exceptions, Atlus has totally overtaken Square-Enix in my "omg, must buy this game, just because of publisher/maker" mentality. It's...odd. Granted, I'm still predisposed towards S-E games, but they're not triggering it nearly as much as Atlus does these days.

Watched DMark play Demon's Souls last night. Watched him die. A lot. It's fantastically hard, just like a lot of the review say, but it's the kind of hard that makes success that much more rewarding. The game isn't cheating, or have awful cameras/mechanics to fight against. It's not artificial. So when you actually succeed or see someone else succeed (in the weird "multi-player"), it's all skill and strategy. It's pretty cool. Also, it's released by Atlus, so what were you expecting?

Speaking of Atlus, I also managed to get my hands on Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. Yes, I know I still have to finish P4. But it satisfies my appetite for more SMT and TRPGs on a portable, so at least I might be able to play more often. Anyway, I just started, and just got to Day 1. I'm waiting for the difficulty to ramp up and eat my face. But it's fun.

I also managed to get my hands on Kingdom Hearts: 354/2 Days or whatever the number is called. ("Kingdom Hearts: 3.14159 Days", for the snark) Haven't played it yet. Not sure how many damn tutorials I want to slog through. Maybe KH2's absurd intro is coloring my memories, but the tutorials for KH have always bugged me for being a little too drawn out. We'll see if the gaiden game changes that.

So, yeah. Lazy-day Saturday, for once. It's a good thing, because I think I'm fighting a minor cold. Possibly could have been worse, considering that campus has gotten hit fairly hard with H1N1. I've been exceedingly lucky I've dodged that bullet, considering I've probably been exposed to it from at least five different people. Also, considering my level of exhaustion this past week, I don't know if I could have kept that up much longer.
