ultranos: kino standing, staring ahead (need caffeine; this is unacceptable)
As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm finally able to do this meme without getting arrested for carrying a camera with me during the day. Yay.

Week in the Life: Day 1
1. You must take between 6 and 8 new photographs per day.
2. Your WITL must be consecutive. No skipping days.
3. You must post your photographs at the end of that day, some time after the last picture is taken.
4. Each photograph must have the time taken and a title, with no other explanation.

Yay! I am ENVIOUS in the extreme of your nerf armory.

Hee. A friend who owned a lot of them was finishing up his PhD and didn't want to take them with him when he moved out of the dorms (he was a GRT, or Graduate Residence Tutor. AKA the closest thing we have to an RA or whatever). So I "inherited" his collection. It makes me happy.

I feel like I need to mod the sniper rifle. :D

I really miss my crossbow.

You had one of the crossbows? I had one of the bow-and-arrow ones when I was a kid. I loved that thing.

This is one of the best lines I've read in weeks.

PINE PINE PINE! I MISS YOU PINE!

*ahem*

I just had way too much fun trying to work our your whiteboard.

I LOVE PINE!

(I was wondering if anyone was going to recognize it.)

And the whiteboard is full of dimensional analysis for a torque problem. Buckingham-Pi Theorem!

I know! I'm so sad I can't use pine anymore (I mean, I still use it the once a month or so I clear spam from my undergraduate email account that is otherwise essentially dead but...none of my other accounts use it. though I am getting addicted to gmail - just not the same)

Ha! My whiteboard is currently covered with scribbles of trying to derive the equation for the hydraulic conductivity of water flowing horizontally across a a layered material.

*bangs head against....head*

I used to use Eudora for mail, until someone showed Pine to me and I instantly fell in love with it. I don't even want to THINK about not ever being able to use it. (Gmail is really the only other mail client I use and find tolerable. I have an old Yahoo! account that's still used, but that's pretty much only due to inertia, and it'd be an absolute pain to port everything over to Gmail.)

Okay, I am trying VERY HARD not to go diving for my fluid mechanics book for that equation. :P Because I'm not entirely sure I would have it. *facepalm*

When the end of the world comes- like tomorrow - I am going to your house.

Hee. The armory is awesome.

Hm, the end of the world reminds me that I should go buy some Coffeemate. For improvised fireballs.

Coffee mate makes fireballs??

I drink this!
Date/Time: 2008-09-10 00:56 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ultranos-fic.livejournal.com
Well, it's extremely flammable. We've detonated some and made a fireball that went up over 5 stories. And then ran from the area before the campus police showed up.

made a fireball that went up over 5 stories

Oh. My.

I think I won't be adding that to coffee anytime soon. (I used to love it as a kid.)
Date/Time: 2008-09-10 01:49 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ultranos-fic.livejournal.com
Well, I think flour does the same thing. When it's in a clump, it's harmless. But if it's thrown up in the air and let near a flame, the whole cloud ignites.

It's pretty impressive looking.

I think they used it on Mythbusters to make a fireball without any explosive compounds. (that and - sawdust?)
Date/Time: 2008-09-10 02:26 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ultranos-fic.livejournal.com
Yeah. All you need to do is pile some onto something that'll blow it up into the air, then a secondary trigger to ignite it.

(Sawdust should do the same thing. It's just the tiny particles catching on fire, and when they're airborne, there's lots of oxygen to feed the fire, so it spreads from particle to particle.)
Date/Time: 2008-09-10 03:41 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] shanghairain.livejournal.com
Yeah. Any fine particulate or mist.

This is in fact the same principle behind grain silo explosions.

(And fuel-air bombs.)

I look forward to having a good internets connection again so I can see all of these pictures, because what I can see (they only paint about halfway) is made of cool. Whee!
Date/Time: 2008-09-10 01:52 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] ultranos-fic.livejournal.com
Ew, bad internet connection sucks.

I think I'm going to end up taking lots of pics of various buildings and miscellaneous things on campus. It's just too easy! Plus, some things look pretty impressive when it's sunny out (as opposed to pouring).
