ultranos: black on white safety stick-man getting a companion cube to the head (well this sucks)
I think I figured out the problem with me and cosplayers at Dragon*Con:

I see the Iron Man suits and think "who the hell machined that?" Which is incorrect, because the answer is "nobody". And I really, really do not want to continue that train of thought because clearly that way lies madness.

I need to find decent shots of the Arc Reactor. (Certain people: Yes, this is for what you think it's for. *facepalm*)

But it's really cool! And it's a badass machining challenge! How can I possibly resist? :P

Resistance is futile!

(I'll send you some pictures.)

DOOM!!!!

DOOM DOOM DOOM!

(okay, honestly, in this one case I'm actually going to say that I think you have better uses for your time. Like writing RepliCarter fic (OMG NOW I WANT TO MAKE A REPLICARTER COSTUME!)

Hah.

(To be fair, I know I do. Building a model arc reactor would just be a side project to keep my machining skills intact after this term. Because I'll be spending enough time in the shop just for class. (REPLICARTER COSTUME! The sword hand and a snazzy suit!))

(ah, limiting yourself to the arc reactor sounds just right - project to keep you busy and fun and skilled but less ambitious than an entire suit)

(wouldn't it be cool? Even just the suit alone! And it doesn't look *too* complicated. Bet I could even find a pattern to modify. We'll ignore that I don't have a sewing machine (but I could, um, get it all ready and sew it at home over Thanksgiving. Oh, man, I haven't sewed in years...)

You are making me sad that I can't sew.
