I, um, think I'm going to Dragon*Con. (It's the weekend before term starts, so it'll be a nice last bit of vacation before the insanity of term starts again.)
A couple of friends and I are looking into hotels (and really need to remember to buy a membership for it). The only con I've been to is Anime Boston, so I never had to worry about anything other than a membership, so I don't actually know how this game works. It'll be all kinds of Fun.

I recommend the Baymont, since I'm sure the three con hotels are sold out on rooms. The Baymont is two blocks from the main action, but it's not a bad walk (it's downhill on the way home, which, at four in the morning, is the BEST THING EVER).
At least. I think it's a Baymont? Bleh. I don't remember right now. Sorry.

Last year they opened up hotel rooms at con prices on and off all summer - so we managed to reserve ours near the end of July. Also, check the dragon*Con LJ community because sometimes people are looking to get rid of rooms they can no longer keep.

("Hey, remember that thing we talked about before the end of term ate our lives?"
"Yeah..."
"..."
"So. Wanna go to Dragon*Con?"
"Okay, sure."
"Alright then.")
Oh, good point about the LJ comm. I did think of that. And nice to know about hotel rooms opening later. I'll mention that to the person who said she'd look at hotels (because I've never done that sort of thing before).

I mean, I don't promise that the hotel thing will work that way THIS year
(apparently there are football(?) games in town this year on the weekend and some fans learned of the dragon*con room codes or something)
But I'd suggest patience.

Of course the Stargate Panel doesn't look all that interesting to me, but I did love meeting LJers. That was the best part, IMO.

I think the best part is the potential to meet LJers too.
