(I'd normally post this elsewhere, since I generally don't go on about video games here, but I thought that more of the audience here would appreciate it.)
So, I'm thinking I need to start on Housemate #3's copy of Mass Effect.
In this game, you are Commander John Shepard ("John" is the default name Bioware chose), XO of the human race's most advanced ship made from alien and human technology. Apparently, within the first mission, Commander Shepard loses a team member and activates a beacon left by an ancient civilization that has been gone for thousands of years and has a special reaction to the ancient technology. There also seems to be mention of a mechanical race who is bent on destroying sentient life in the galaxy.
You can customize what the main character looks like. I think I need to see if I can make him look like Joe Flannigan.
