Welcome to the new year, same as the old year

I returned from visiting family on 12/30. It was nice, and I did have fun (sometimes more than I thought I would. It's funny how sometimes the people you felt awkward with as a kid are now the people you feel most comfortable with as an adult.) but I'm glad to be back. I really can't live there anymore. I'm now officially the "kid living farthest from 'home'" on both sides, as my brother moved back for grad school.

In other news, TB somehow convinced me to start watching Community (it really wasn't that hard once he set up his Hulu Plus account on the PS3 for common use). Normally, I'm not much of a sitcom fan, but this show has won me over. Hell, it made me like it just by not having a laugh track. I really hate those things. Anyway, I'm only a few episodes in, but have been promised good things, so we'll see.

Despite making out like a bandit during the Steam Holiday Sale (picked up FTL, Spec Ops: The Line, Dark Souls, and Skyrim (yes, finally)), I've still mostly been playing Borderlands 2. Still somewhere in the middle (?) of my first playthrough with Zer0. I started up a new character with two friends to play co-op with, choosing Maya this time, and promptly fell in love with her Phaselock ability. Dear god, where have you been all my life?

I suspect Borderlands 2 is going to be my new SupCom until Planetary Annihilation comes out. I'm not going to be able to put this thing down for long.

FTL is on my wishlist. I figure I'll end up getting it in an indie bundle eventually. I'm trying to hold out, but damn it's hard to resist, especially when I see the price go below $7 for the game + soundtrack.

Skyrim is amazing. I put 182 hours in and didn't even finish the main plot, because I was so distracted by side quests. I would advise beating the plot on your first play through without getting too distracted, else you may never finish it lol.

And as an aside, Maya is my fav character on BL2. Phaselock ftw!

My housemate just got FTL, and the first thing he said to me today was "Oh my god, FTL is far too addicting." So I'll call that a ringing endorsement.

Skyrim looks amazing. I just waiting until it hit under $30, because I know it's a time-sink and I've got plenty of those already. :D

Oh man, Maya is awesome. I am almost regretting playing Zer0 first on solo. I'm seriously considering starting a second solo campaign with Maya. (Hey, it means I'll have two characters in True Vault Hunter mode later, right? I'm increasing my choices for later! ZERO FAILURE MODES. XD ) I used Phaselock for the first time and was just "They freeze helpless in the air. MY LIFE HAS NEW MEANING. :D :D :D" It was extra cool that my two friends I was playing with were both playing Salvador, so, uh, target designation ftw!

I cam here to be predictable.

Don't worry. Mr. Havoc got it for Hanukkah last year and still hasn't played it. I'm not buying him any more video games until he does.

My problem is that I just keep buying more games. :) I'm pretty sure my current stack might be up into 4 digits on "Number of Hours Required to Complete", using a very generous definition of "complete". *shifty look*

Community is pretty brilliant in many ways, but sometimes I just want to sigh at it. But I won't post any spoilers until you've seen the whole thing!

Most shows eventually make me want to sigh at them sometimes. I'm a bit terrible at TV, so it might take awhile for me to get caught up! I'm aiming to be there in time for the new season in February.
