So, um, how many episodes per season does Avatar: The Last Airbender have? I'm trying to figure out what's next on the list after I finish the last few episodes of s1 of Darker than Black. And it's between Avatar and Eden of the East. And while the latter is only 11 episodes, Avatar kinda, um, jumped the queue when I was browsing around TVTropes and, um, someone mentioned a character named Toph? I think my reaction was "wait, WHAAAT?!"
*facepalm* I am so goddamn predictable.

But I must admit, I'm pretty intrigued. I watched the first (and second?) episode(s). Uh, "Boy in the Iceburg" or something? I just got distracted by, you know, finals. And then have been chewing through other things.
But it's worth it? (I don't know why I'm so wary of Western animation...)

That said, for the world they made, the style works REALLY well.
(Bah, white character to identify with. What nonsense is this? We don't need that!)

I'm just trying to decide whether it jumps the queue over some of the shorter series (like the ones that are only 11 or 13 episodes) and things I'm theoretically in the middle of (like my "I'm halfway through my second attempt" watching of Ergo Proxy).

(This is my only Avatar icon on LJ, which is why I'm using it. I have more on Dreamwidth.)

I'm assuming Aang gets better? He's...kinda making me want to strangle him for not taking things seriously. He's like the opposite of Shinji Ikari, and I STILL want to strangle him! On the other hand, Katara is cool and I really like Sokka's sarcastic commentary. Although I'm like on episode 6 or something.

Um, so, question: Why would a character named Toph pique your interest? I know I'm missing something by not being a huge anime fangirl here.

So, well, I glanced at the TVTropes basic description of the characters, and when I got to Toph, I basically blinked and said "oh my god, they made Ichi from Zatoichi a tiny girl. There is no way this is not awesome."
Zatoichi is an extremely long-running series in Japan about a blind swordsman who wanders around beating up yakuza and generally being awesome. The campus movie group showed one of the many, many films a few years ago.
Blind character kicking ass is just one of my bulletproof character archetypes.
This possibly stems from reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms too much, where Xiahou Dun gets an arrow in the eye, plucks out his own eyeball and eats it, and keeps fighting.
Actually, now I'm hoping that Avatar really ends up drawing on RotTK, because that would be fitting and awesome.
