Irritation of the Night: Realizing I switched from past to present tense at a section break, and that present is working better, which means I have to rewrite the beginning 3000 words.

ETA: On second thought, rewriting the last bit as past tense works too. Oh thank god.

so long as there's a section break, why does it matter that they use different tenses?
(I thought the rule was "don't change tenses in the middle of a paragraph")

anything I can do to help?

I'm not sure what the rule actually is. It just jarred me as I reread through it, and if it jarred me, something was wrong.

Perhaps 3AM writing is a bad idea.

Encouragement is nice. :) I just need to get through this now, because later on, school is going to eat my soul.

Tense changes between sections are jarring, even if one section is a flashback. You can get away with it, though.

I could, but none of it was a flashback. It was just me being tired enough to not notice I'd swapped tenses until I'd written a couple hundred words. :/

It's fixed now.
