ultranos: it's a duckcat (ZOMG DUCKCAT)
Dragon*Con was very, very fun. I am definitely glad I went. I don't have any sort of "report", so here's some vague bullet points. I might expand on things later (especially if pressed):

  • I didn't really have any particular panels I really wanted to go to, other than at least one Stargate megapanel and the Don S Davis Memorial. This is partially due to the fact that I didn't even bother looking at a damn schedule until I got the printed version in my hands when I registered. Actually, this was a very zen way of doing the con.

  • In fact, I was so zen about the con that despite the fact that I get to dive into term tomorrow since today is reg day, and I needed to make sure I was back in time for a meeting with my advisor, I am very much unstressed. ([livejournal.com profile] abyssinia4077! I have classes! I'M DOING SCIENCE!)

  • Of course, this also might have to do with the amount of alcohol I consumed. Or not, because I was stupidly sober for that amount too. Hrm.

  • The only other thing I really wanted to do was meet people from the internet. Despite the fact that I forgot I am a terminal introvert in real life (until I get comfortable with people) and spent frantic minutes over IM with Abyssis with her trying to convince me that Splash and Trout are not axe murderers and won't throw my body in the sewers of Atlanta. And then spent 40 minutes outside the Stargate Track room before the meeting time desperately trying to stop shaking. Because, um, yeah. But sheer stubborness (and the fact that I promised I'd be there) won out, and I had a blast.

  • Unfortunately, now this means that I probably destroyed some peoples' images of me they had in their heads. Oh well. :P (Probably realized I am much more of a science geek in person.)

  • I got the Stargate d20 book signed by David Nykl, Cliff Simon, AND Torri Higginson. When I told [livejournal.com profile] shanghairain this, his response? "I believe this is a 'holy fuck' moment."

  • The only thing more awkward than having Rainbow Sun Franks ask about furries in the Saturday megapanel AND have an actual furry answer it very seriously (and I'm pretty sure Rainbow was very hungover) was the person I was rooming with turn to me in the dealers room and ask "So, what's with all the cat ears and tails on people?" I don't understand it either! Well, other than as proof that my life is utterly bizarre.

  • Still, though? Meeting other fans? Other female Stargate fans? Priceless (So freaking cool. The boys are cool, but sometimes, man, it's nice to not be the only source of estrogen in the room.)
