Anyway, RepliCarter: aside from the fact that she's the best damn villan the show ever had? Aside from the fact that she's Sam Carter's crazy Dark Side? Aside from the fact that I love intelligent antagonists and robots and the like? :)

Because she's so darn complex and layered and the show doesn't go into it really at all, but you can still tell.

Because she's what happens when you take someone who's good and intelligent and has integrity and loyalty, and then rip everything away, leaving them bare to the cold, unfeeling universe with only their core left. And all that's left is bitter intelligence and ruthlessness.

Because she's Sam with the breaks off, and it's that damn terrifying.

Pepper Potts is not really one of the character archetypes I'm drawn to. I don't really generally pay much attention to the "personal assistant" types in fiction. The thing I love about Pepper is that she makes me pay attention. Her strong, I-take-no-shit-from-anyone personality and ability to basically run everything from behind the scenes? THAT makes me sit up and listen and say "yes ma'am", because when I see Pepper Potts, I remember my dad telling me as a kid to never, never, never anger your secretary, because they run the world. *grin*
