Need music. Send help.

So I'm writing a bunch of characters from a whole lot of different backgrounds, and really, even I can only listen to so much Matthew Good (Band). So, rec me music? Don't really care what genre right now, since I really need an eclectic selection.

(Bonus points for something relating or reminding you of New York City.)

Amon Tobin's soundtrack to Splinter Cell 3 is good city-writing music for me! Okay, it's more 'Midgar' than 'Manhattan', but still.

I have lots of mixes.

This month I'm digging on Carbon Based Lifeforms, which I have just discovered. I also just found groups called Motion City Soundtrack and Cute Is What We Aim For, which you may like if you like Matthew Good.

Back when I was still writing to things with words in English, Mike Doughty and A Silver Mt Zion/Thee Silver Mt Zion/several other variations were frequent candidates.

Stars of the Lid
Brian Eno
Steve Roach
Pete Namlook
Mixmaster Morris & Pete Namlook
Byron Metcalf
Tetsu Inoue

Jonathan Goldman (but only about half his stuff, the other half is meh)
