ultranos: kino standing, staring ahead (kendo)

Great! Now I can freak people out in the park by practicing!

Yeah, I think I just got myself addicted enough to kendo that I feel little remorse for ordering keikogi, hakama, bokken, and shinai. My shoulders are sore today in ways I didn't think possible! It's great! Now if only I could develop callouses on my feet, and we'd be all set.

Amusingly, a side-effect of this is that I'm pretty sure I'd be going back to jiu-jitsu if I wasn't hosed. I let a friend talk me into going to one of her karate practices today, and while watching her try various grappling techniques, I realized that I do, in fact, miss AJJ. Which I didn't think I actually did. So now I'm wondering, at some point, if I should try doing both kendo and jiu-jitsu, because the latter really was a lot of fun until I dislocated my knee in an unrelated accident. Nevermind how confusing it could possibly be to be learning two arts at the same time. But not now. Stupid thesis.

Freaking out people with your exercise practice is awesome! As are calluses.

FWIW, I have found Climb On Bar and/or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream invaluable for my hands when I'm climbing -- they help heal the blisters but because they're thick greases, they don't soften your hands in the way watery lotions can.

They are both waxy/greasy, but you apply them afterwards, once you get home, to help your skin heal faster. Just before bed is good!
