ultranos: kino standing, staring ahead (I'm secretly amused actually)

Time flies

I think today marks exactly one year (maybe off by a day or two) since I first saw "Children of the Gods" for SG-1. (Okay, yes, I'm off by a day, because I first tried to watch it on a plane ride back to Boston.)

So that makes it exactly one year since I fell through the 'gate since I watched the movie years ago and forgot all about Jack, Daniel, Abydos, and Ra. A year ago since I rediscovered it and started internalizing it. Watching and seeing Sam and Daniel stare wide-eyed at the universe, Jack being snarky and grumpy and acting like a kid at the really cool things, Teal'c finding wonder on this planet we call home... I'd be lying if I said it didn't affect me. In a way, that fictional ring spinning in the basement of NORAD acted like a compass and helped me screw my head on straight.

It's been a year since I fell into fandom.

I've started to write again, something I hadn't really done for years, and I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it. I finally realized it doesn't matter if its SGverse or XAOSverse, it's mine and I didn't realize how much it meant until it had been gone.

I found amazing people who didn't make me embarrassed to be in a fandom and were interesting and awesome and thinky. (And I'm running out of adjectives.) People who came from all different backgrounds and walks of life and we all see this thing in different ways, and yet, it still links us together. And damn if that isn't cool.

Oh, wow, I didn't realize you were even newer to the show than I was!

I'm very definitely glad you poked your head in and said hi and decided to stick around. It's been great having you here and, hey, who else would spend two hours with me figuring out the details of Daniel's radiation poisoning? :)

I understand that WAY too well.
