I should probably mention over here for those of you who aren't on the Tumblrz that I have been sucked into writing fic again. A lot of it. Which is a problem when I'm supposed to be writing my Master's thesis, but here we are.

It's mostly Supergirl these days, but I'll try to remember to crosspost a notification here when I post on AO3 if people care.

I am on the Tumblerz, technically speaking, but I do not log on because my Tumblr savior filters continually vanish and I am not dealing with all the political everything that you can't escape on the endless scroll-o-rama that is Tumblr. So I do not actually see anything that anyone says on Tumblr.

It was actually seeing one of your cross-posts to the Tumblrz that reminded me that not everyone who is possibly interested is on that hellsite. :P

But yes! You might be interested to know that not only am I writing fanfic again, it has become embarrassingly easy for some people to convince me to write certain things.

I wish it was a site that worked for me, and it was, for about a week, until Firefox updated and wiped all my filters and all the political horror descended upon me again.

I don't dare dip a toe in there after the election. Facebook is bad enough even with me having resolutely unfollowed 90% of the chronic political posters (for now) and blocked every news site possible (I do read the news, I just prefer to control my access to it), and I have to be on that because my LARP runs all its organization out of Facebook. (Though I am stepping down from STing after March and then I will be blissfully free from being forced to interact on Facebook unless I get a notification about a game post.)

I am thrilled to hear this and have already subscribed to your AO3 ID, though would also appreciate crossposts here because I sometimes don't notice the emailed notifications because I'm oblivious. Also: Supergirl! I love Supergirl! LOVE THAT SHOW. Not just because Alex and Maggie are canonically gay (though their getting together, so cute, even if I am behind by three or so episodes), but it's all so just delightful. I do miss Cat, though.

I can understand the wanting to limit political intake. I had to stop reading MetaFilter threads because it was just Too Much. I have one or two people who post a lot of politics after the election, but I learned long ago to just skim a headline and keep going without it eating up too much of my mental load. It's a strategy that absolutely doesn't work for everyone, but oddly that kind of information packet is something my brain can handle when I'm focused on a million other things.

That and I've managed to meet some relatively awesome fandom people, forming an island of sanity, so that's always good.

Supergirl! I love that show, obviously. I got into it one because one of my housemates is a giant DC fanboy and got the pilot when it leaked. But then it also ended up a show I could watch and my parents could too. Because Mom grew up on superhero comic books and it's just a goddamn delight. I miss Cat and I like Alex and Maggie, but I am 100% here for the Sisters Danvers.

I will attempt to remember to crosspost then! (I am currently in the process of confusing the hell out of the fandom by writing crackfic in grand SGA tradition)

I'm pretty good when I go to news sites, because I choose to go there, and because I can self-select, and also there's not a lot of "THE SKY IS FALLING!!! PANIC! FEAR! DISASTER!" that you can get on various blogs and Facebook and Tumblrs and the like. (I am not a fan of the current administration, I just can't live life in a constant state of panic and alarm either.)

OH THANK GOD. CRACKFIC. Because I took a look at Supergirl fandom (especially the femslash) and it was all...just exactly the thing I don't want out of femslash (also lots of Cat/Kara and Kara/Alex, which just, neither is my thing), but there's so much of it that obviously everyone is VERY VERY happy with it and who am I to argue with that?

Basically, the Sisters Danvers are awesome, their adopted dad J'onn is awesome, I kind of shrieked when they brought M'gann in this season (M'gann! I am also a DC fangirl, though not of the read-the-comics version, because comics continuity is too sprawling, expansive, and expensive.)

Thank for attempting to cross-post! I will attempt to make actual Supergirl posts too, since I know those will cross-post to Tumblr. (Just try to comment on Dreamwidth if you get the urge?) Work has gotten ridiculous since I got the promotion (good, but also busy), so my fanfic output has dropped to almost nothing.

(Also I'm really trying to write original fic, which hasn't worked this week, as I've been on extreme parenting duty.)

I TRY WITH THE CRACKFIC. I did not intend for this to be the mark I make on fandom, but we play with the cards dealt to us. :P

And yeah, while I'm thrilled at a canon femmeslash pairing, the fic has been...less than ideal. (I have had discussions with others about how it's basically the same damn plots over and over, from fandom to fandom, with the names changed. Characterization optional. Uuuugh.)

(Oh god, I hear you about those other ships. I can yell loud and long about unhealthy ship options. I have developed Opinions. It's so weird.)

I'm getting more into comics because of this, and yes, M'gann is made of awesome and sunshine. I've accepted my fate as a third-gen comic book geek (from my mom's side even!).

I will try to remember DW exists more! Really, I do feel guilty about not being as active over here as I used to, because this is so great for longform discussion and other things Tumblr Does Not Do Well. I miss it.
